Michael Anthony Corea, 61, died suddenly and unexpectedly on March 17, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Springfield, Delaware County, Michael lived a life of apparent contradictions. A man of deep Catholic faith who chose to move to Sin City. A man with a huge heart and a short fuse. An old soul who looked much younger than his years.
A graduate of Springfield High School and St. Joseph's University, he worked as a government auditor and a cruise ship massage therapist before building a career in corporate software consulting. Outside of school and work he pursued diverse passions, from volunteer firefighting as a high-schooler to aviation and fitness as an adult.
But Michael's Catholic faith was most central to his life. As a teenager he became actively involved in the Charismatic Renewal movement, and could be regularly found sweeping the long-handled collection basket in church, or strumming guitar at prayer meetings. He remained devoted to the church throughout his life, more recently finding meaning in attending Latin Mass and supporting Catholic media projects.
Michael adored his nephews and nieces, deeply loved and frequently aggravated his family, and was fiercely loyal to his friends. And he endlessly doted on his beloved snaggletoothed rescue dog Gracie. They are all devastated by his loss.
Michael is survived by his mother, Carmela Corea (nee Gerbino); siblings Charmaine Coulter (Tom), Lisa Mehlberger (Mark), and John Corea (Kevin McGilly); nieces Julia Gregor (John), Erica Mehlberger, and Jillian Mehlberger; and grandnephew/grandnieces Jackson, Ella and Sophie Gregor.
He was predeceased by his father, Samuel Corea, and nephews Joseph Caruso and Nicholas Caruso.
His memory will live on in the many lives he touched with his humor, his ready and hearty laugh, and his unwavering faith.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 from 9 to 11am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064. Funeral Mass at 11am in the Church. Interment at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed at St. Francis YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@SFASpringfield or Facebook https://www.facebook.com/sfaspringfield/live

Michael Corea was/is a wonderful big brother to me. I will miss the times watching the Eagles games at our home. He always had a kind word for me and my siblings. The love I have in my heart for Michael will never dissipate. I will miss him stopping over as we were eating dinner to shoot the bull and have a bit of pasta. He will always have a place in my mind and definitely in my heart.
Michael you will be missed but not forgotten.

Michael is a brother in as much as he was part of my family. We grew up together. His passing leaves a hole. I and my family love him. I tried to visit every time I was in Las Vegas. His faith and kindness were magnificent. You always knew what he thought. In this world; I can appreciate that. You may not have agreed but honesty is a virtue. I will miss him until I see him in Heaven.

I worked with Michael as his client on a project, and his knowledge, compassion and grace were evident in all that he did. He was truly a really good person and a great colleague to work with. May he rest in God's eternal peace with the angels where he most certainly belongs.

We remember our dear friend Michael, a kind and loving person who was very passionate about his faith. We were privileged to have him stand as the best man in our wedding and be a true Godfather to our son. He was part of our family. Despite being thousands of miles away, he always remained in touch with us. Our hearts are saddened by his sudden passing. We have so many good memories of him that will live on, and we know that he is in heaven and at peace. We will miss you, Michael, but you are forever in our minds and hearts.
