Michael F. Dollinger

Michael F. Dollinger, 64, of Metamora, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at his home. Mike was born on March 5, 1960 in Streator, IL, to Leroy and Grace (Thompson) Dollinger.
He was raised and grew up on a farm in Toluca, IL and graduated from Metamora Township High School. He worked in retail management for his entire working career, which took him to Boston, MA and Fort Lauderdale, FL, both places he truly enjoyed living in at the time. After retirement, Mike returned to Metamora and devoted his time to caring for his mother and helping everyone, family or friend, any time he was asked. Mike's usual reply with a smile was, "No problem!"
Mike was very musically talented. In his younger days, his trumpet skills took him to the Bands of America competition in Hawaii, his talents of singing and dancing led to lead roles in school musicals, and he enjoyed playing with the guitar group at mass at St. Mary's Church. Mike loved to travel and loved every pet he ever owned or helped to take care of. He enjoyed his workouts with his River Plex cardiac rehab group. Most important to Mike was family, and in his kind and caring ways he was always there for anything the family needed.
Mike is survived by his mother Grace, with whom he made his home, and his siblings, Linda (Alan) Streitmatter of Metamora, IL, Dave (Sharon) Dollinger of Toluca, IL, Thomas Dollinger of Peoria, IL, and Kathy Wainman of Metamora, IL. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, as well as treasured cousins and dear friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until mass time, also on Saturday at the church. A private family burial of ashes will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Metamora at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that all donations go to the Michael F. Dollinger Memorial Fund which will honor Mike's memory, c/o any CEFCU branch.
