OAKVILLE
Michael A. "Fuji" Fiorucci
"Beloved father, brother, uncle & friend"
Michael A. "Fuji" Fiorucci, 70, of Oakville, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital after a courageous fight with cancer on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
Fuji was born in Waterbury on June 29, 1953, a son of the late Rinaldo "Nardi" and Carmella "Millie" (Daddona) Fiorucci. Fuji grew up in the Town Plot section of Waterbury and was a graduate of Kennedy High School, class of 1971. For many years until his retirement, Fuji worked for the City of Waterbury in the Parks Department. Always being social, Fuji had the pleasure of bartending at various businesses around the Greater Waterbury Area over the years, including Dash 23, Backstage at Amici's, the Grand Oak Villa, Gridiron Tavern, The Hills, and J.C. Hooks, as well as being a blackjack dealer at Foxwoods Casino. The amount of friends that were made over the years are endless.
Fuji enjoyed being by the water and meticulously maintaining his yard. He was an avid Jeopardy! fan, enjoyed watching old Western movies, and loved his sports, especially the NY Mets, Miami Dolphins, and NASCAR. His day wasn't complete without tackling the daily crossword puzzles in the newspaper, though his greatest joy was spending time with his two girls. Fuji was known to be quite the jokester, keeping everyone on their toes waiting for the next punchline.
Fuji leaves behind to cherish his memory his two daughters, Kristen (Will) Schless of Rock Hill, SC, Nicole (Tyler Leopizzo) Fiorucci, and his bonus daughter Samantha (Joe) Sheridan of Waterbury. He also leaves behind his siblings, Barbara (Don) Gregoire of Myrtle Beach, SC; two brothers, David Fiorucci and Richard Fiorucci, both of Waterbury; his goddaughter Sarah (Pete) Ventura, and his nephew Christian Parrillo, also from Waterbury; his former wife, Kerren Ruffner of Clinton, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Avenue, Waterbury. Everyone attending Mass is kindly asked to meet directly at the church on Wednesday morning. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
