He earned his master’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1983, in Business Management.

Mike was an active Boy Scout and made it to the rank of Eagle Scout with six palms before finishing high school. He was an avid stamp collector all his life, collecting stamps from around the USA and the world. In 1961, Mike went to Officer Candidate School, in Newport, RI and was commissioned as Ensign USNR. He reported aboard the USS Page County (LST 1076) in April, 1962. During the Cuban missile crisis in October, 1962, the Page County was the only west coast LST sent along with twenty three other west coast ships in support of the Cuban blockade. Then, in 1966, he joined the IBM Corporation in Kansas City, MO, where he worked as a Systems Engineer, helping customers install System 360’s and System 3’s. In April, 1976, he moved to Atlanta, GA, to work in IBM’s General Systems Division Headquarters. One of his favorite projects was EXPO86 in Vancouver, Canada.

During his lifetime, Mike enjoyed golfing, traveling, and visiting with family members. He was known for his dry wit. Mike was one of those rare souls, who was loyal, kind, trustworthy, and loving, while at the same time, did not tolerate misbehavior. He loved his family and his family adored him. He will be missed!
