Mr. Michael Vernon "Mike" Godshall, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Landrum, South Carolina.
Born in Union, Mike was a proud native son who carried the values of his hometown throughout his life. He graduated from Union High School and went on to attend Clemson University, where he furthered his education and laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication, generosity and spirited enthusiasm.
Mike was a devout Christian of the Presbyterian faith. His beliefs guided him in both word and deed, shaping a life of service and compassion. A devoted husband to his late wife Barbara Godshall, Mike was known for his unwavering commitment to family and his infectious sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
He had a passion for racing sailboats--a pursuit that reflected both his adventurous spirit and love for the water. Whether navigating the wind or sharing laughter with loved ones onshore, Mike embraced life with energy and grace.
Throughout his years, Mike supported numerous charitable organizations as a philanthropist. His generosity touched many lives and left a lasting impact on the communities he cared about deeply.
Mike is lovingly remembered by his sister, Sammy Bailey; niece, Lisa Toney Malone; nephews, Richard Toney and Randall Toney; great-nieces and nephews, Grace Howell, Kathleen Toney Saunders, Jacob Patterson and Ashton Toney; and a great-great nephew, Allen Lee Howell. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Godshall; mother, Elma McAdams; wife, Barbara Godshall and sister K'Barron Godshall Harvey.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2025 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
