Michael Goldberg

Michael Harry Goldberg, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 10 after a brief illness, following a full and remarkable life. Born on October 10, 1947, Michael grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where he developed both a strong work ethic and a deep sense of pride in the family business founded by his father and uncle in 1934-Rite Rug Company. His work ethic and passion for flooring, were passed down to children, and his oldest son, Mickey, will continue to lead the company.

An Army veteran, Michael carried a profound sense of duty, integrity, and commitment into every chapter of his life. With vision, determination and a passion for both people and innovation, he devoted much of his life to the company he loved. Under his leadership, Rite Rug grew from a respected local flooring business into a thriving, nationally recognized enterprise. His dedication to those who worked beside him, his drive to explore new opportunities, and his unwavering commitment to excellence left a lasting imprint on the company and on the many employees, customers, and friends who formed his extended Rite Rug family.

Beyond business, Michael was a man of curiosity and adventure. He was an avid traveler who explored countless cities, countries, and continents, always eager to learn more about the world and its history.

Michael's quiet generosity and philanthropic spirit enriched many communities. He supported numerous institutions and organizations that benefited from his dedication to giving back. His impact will continue to be felt for generations.

Above all, the greatest joy in Michael's life was his beloved wife, Anita. Together, they traveled the world, built treasured memories, and embraced every opportunity with love and laughter. Their partnership was the heart of Michael's life, and they remained inseparable companions on every journey-near and far.

Michael will be remembered for his sharp mind, generous spirit, deep devotion to family and community, and the extraordinary legacy he built through both his work and his relationships. His presence will be profoundly missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, December 12, 2025 at Congregation Tifereth Israel, 1354 E. Broad Street, Columbus with interment at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. Shiva will follow graveside service.
