Michael Hamby

Michael Edwin Hamby (Mike), age 58, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at his residence after a long battle with illness. He spent his final weeks surrounded by his loved ones.
Mike was born in Manchester, Tennessee, and spent his childhood in many different states as his father relocated frequently for work. Ultimately, he returned to Tennessee, where he attended Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. Throughout his life, Mike pursued various careers, including software engineering and home inspecting.
Mike had a special gift for bringing a smile to anyone's face and brightening any situation with his goofy, fun-loving, and caring personality. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather ("G-Diddy"), son, brother, and friend. He loved spending time with friends and family with no agenda-just being together.
Mike was passionate about sports, golf, fishing, and shooting. He had a talent for craftsmanship and enjoyed making things, always eager to learn new skills. He was a skilled carpenter, creating beautiful furniture, crafting his own golf clubs, and piecing together his own firearms. When he wasn't building or being a handyman, he cherished time spent outdoors.
Mike found freedom and salvation in Jesus Christ. During his later years, he often shared how he felt closer to God than ever before and was determined to spread the gospel to everyone he could. He found true peace in surrendering his life to God, understanding that salvation does not come from being "good enough" but from trusting in the Lord Jesus as our Savior. Mike would want his story to encourage others to draw closer to God and embrace His grace.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Grandmother and Grandfather Hamby, and Grandmother and Grandfather McLin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gilda Hamby; his parents, Bob and Betty Hamby; his children and stepchildren, Corbin Hamby (Amy), Corinne Fisher (Trevor), Christell Tagra, Catherine Tagra, and Christopher Jack Tagra; his cherished grandchildren, Grace Fisher, Bella Fisher, Eli Fisher, Norah Hamby, Hallie Hamby, and KJ Cox; his brother, Neil Hamby; his niece, McKenna Hamby; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and friends.
Mike's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
