After a valiant fight with Pancreatic Cancer, Michael James Hanney, 70, passed away at home on March 13, 2025, in Cumming, Georgia. He was surrounded by his wife & children.
Born on April 10, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree and went on to build a remarkable career in the parking industry. A natural salesman with an innate ability to connect with people, he dedicated 50 years to his profession and was widely respected by colleagues and clients alike. In 2024, his dedication and excellence were recognized when he received the prestigious Sales & Ops Cornerstone Award—an honor given to just one individual across the entire company.
Beyond his professional achievements, Michael was a man of faith and strong family values. As an Irish Catholic, he cherished his loved ones above all else. He always had a smile for everyone and never hesitated to offer a kind word or helping hand.
Michael had a passion for cars and sports, particularly golf. Whether watching or playing, he found great joy in the game. However, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family. His love for Christmas was legendary—his child-like enthusiasm for the holiday season was infectious and brought joy to all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelia Suedkamp Hanney; his children, Christopher Hanney, Lauren Hanney, and Bridget Hanney; and his grandchildren, Liam Beckham, Michael Hanney, and Gianna Hanney. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Maureen Hanney Bigham and Bill Bigham; as well as nieces and a nephew.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Hanney and Ruth P. Hanney; along with several aunts and uncles who played significant roles in his life.
A Celebration of Life Catholic Mass will be held on March 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church in Cumming, Georgia (4633 Shiloh Road). Reception following Service.
Michael’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
