Michael F. Hughes passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the age of 59.
Born August 20, 1963, he was the son of Helen and Henry Hughes.
He is survived by his loving children, Dylan and GiAnna Hughes, his partner, Chris Downs, and her children, his siblings Patricia Martino, Edward Hughes, and Dolores Costello, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Michael worked as an auto technician for Springfield Mitsubishi for 14 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing trips, barbequing, listening to rock music, riding his motorcycle, and cruising in his red Jeep Wrangler. Mike also loved spending time down the shore, going to Myrtle Beach every year, sitting by the ocean all day, and attending car shows and rodeos. Mike was a huge Flyers fan, and even played ice hockey in his younger years.
Christmas was Mike's favorite holiday. In fact, he prided himself on getting the fullest Christmas tree that they had for his family to gather around and make wonderful memories. Mike lit up any room he came into and always knew how to put a smile on everyone's faces. He will be missed by all, but he will live on in our hearts and in our memories forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet Michael's family on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154. His interment will take place privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's name may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
