Michael (Mike) Anthony Johnson, aged 54, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a graduate of FJ Reitz High School and earned an associate degree from IVY Tech. For many years, he served as the Shipping Manager at Sealcorp. Mike had a passion for Camaros and was a founding member of the Southern Indiana Camaro Club. He loved to travel, particularly to destinations where he could scuba dive with his wife, Tamara (Tami) Johnson, formerly Mitchell, with whom he shared 28 wonderful years of marriage.
Mike's heart was filled with love for his family and friends, and he was known for his playful spirit, often playing pranks on his brothers. He will be remembered for his unwavering willingness to help others in their time of need, his boundless creativity, and his remarkable ability to tackle any challenge.
He is survived by his daughter, Elissa Johnson Walters, and her husband, Paul, of Pawtucket, RI, and his son, Ryan Johnson, of Evansville, IN. He leaves behind his parents, Michael D. Johnson and David and Dianna Wagner, as well as his brothers Marcus (Katie) Johnson of Elberfeld, IN, Bryan (Kendra) Wagner of Evansville, IN, and Evan Johnson of Evansville, IN. Mike is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl Mattingly and Amy Johnson, both of Evansville, IN, and a large extended family that included 20 nieces and 20 nephews that he cherished dearly.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Mary Morris, and Henry F. (Dugan) Johnson; his stepmother, Marc Johnson; his aunt, Mary Straub, and uncle, Jack Mann. His genuine and loving nature touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he shared with those around him.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held on November 4, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with friends welcome beginning at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County 4-H Council - Dog Club, 13301 Darmstadt Rd, Evansville, Indiana 47725.
