Robert James "Bob" Pace, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Heritage Center.
He was born at the old St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville on December 29, 1940. The son of Howard Jackson Pace and Eleanora M. (Kaffenberger) Pace, Bob was employed as a high school teacher at Mater Dei and Memorial, also serving as athletic director at Mater Dei and assistant athletic director at Memorial. He was a case manager at Evansville Arc, serving adult mentally handicapped clients. Bob was a proud grandfather and was devoted to his grandchildren's activities and achievements. Bob, or Bobby as he was known in his later years, loved to garden and was especially proud of his tomatoes. He was an avid reader and loved history, trivia, and a good joke. Bobby was well known as a kind and humble man who never met a stranger.
Bob is survived by his son, Rick Pace (Carol); daughter, Lori Lander (Tim); and his beloved four grandchildren, Austen Pace, Hunter Pace, Madelyn Lander, and Mallory Lander.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary and Steve Pace; and numerous relatives.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am until service time on Thursday.
