Michael Kempa, age 72 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, formerly of Brentwood Borough, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1951, in Pittsburgh, one of three sons of Nick and Agnes (Contristano) Kempa.
Michael, an avid Steeler’s fan and NHRA Drag racing fan, was raised in the Baldwin Borough area of Pittsburgh, and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1969. He was a life-long owner/operator in the trucking industry and loved to share stories of his adventures on the road.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rocco Kempa. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his stepson, Jason (Dawn) Lippert; two granddaughters, Cassidy Rose and Allison Paige Lippert; his brother, Nick (Val) Kempa; nephews, Anthony (Rebecca), Richard (Mileva), Rocco “Rocky” and Evan Kempa; great niece, Avery and great nephews, AJ and Richie.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 1 – 8 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. A Blessing Service will be held for Michael in the funeral home on Friday during the visitation at 7 PM. He will be buried with his parents in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
Michael loved a fine Italian meal and a good cigar!
