Born in Paterson, Michael resided in Prospect Park for most of his life. Michael graduated from Manchester Regional High School, where he excelled academically and in sports, such as football and wrestling. He attended Rutgers University where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams. After graduation, Michael attended Harvard University in Boston, where he earned his master's degree. He studied both psychology and city planning. He worked in city planning for the city of Paterson before retiring. Michael loved all sports, hunting and the outdoors. His fondest memories were of enjoying family and friends at their summer bungalow on the Delaware River.
Michael B. Kerestes was the beloved son of the late Michael Kerestes and Antoinette (nee Van Damme) Kerestes. Brother of Judith Campione of West Milford, and Jacalyn Kerestes of Steamboat Springs, CO. Michael is also survived by nephew Michael Jason Connizzo of Chester NY, niece Stephanie Moskowitz of Ridgewood, NJ, niece Lucianna Coloccia of Chicago, IL, nephew Daniel Coloccia of Denver, Co. and seven grand nieces and nephews; Joshua Moskowitz, Ella Moskowitz, Justin Moskowitz, Jacob Moskowitz, Michael J. Connizzo, Isabella Connizzo and Rocco Dimas.
All funeral services will be private.
