Michael Kidd V.

Michael Kidd, 70, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
Mike was born on February 12, 1952, in Estherville, IA, to David and Marlyce (Vogel) Kidd. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Strohman on February 7, 1976, in Superior, Wisconsin. Mike owned and operated Kidd Construction in Spirit Lake. He took over the business from his grandfather in the late 1970 s. He owned and operated Kidd Construction for over forty years and worked tirelessly on countless projects improving the Iowa Great Lakes. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake.
Mike loved Lake Okoboji and spending summer afternoons out on the water boating. Another passion of his was fast cars, including his present to himself; a 2017 Corvette. Mike was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, and Minnesota Twins. He also played golf as a member of Indian Hills Men s League. In addition to his hobbies, he enjoyed meeting up with friends at happy hour and visiting friends in the Florida Keys for many winters. Most of all, Mike took great pride and joy in his four grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Cheryl Kidd of Spirit Lake; son Dalton (Kathryn) Kidd of Arnolds Park; daughter Kristine (Calvin) Thiessen of Spirit Lake; grandchildren Cooper, Isla, Saige and Jack; sisters Kim Streitilmier of Eagle Grove, Iowa; and Kristi Knight of Arizona; brother Steve (Natasha) Kidd of Superior, Wisconsin, step-mother Audrey Kidd of Superior, Wisconsin, step-sister Pam Baeckman (Ulf) of Sweden, mother-in-law Carole Strohman of Mesa, Arizona, brother-in-law Derek Strohman (Beth) of New Richmond, Wisconsin, sister-in-law Elizabeth Freitas (Bryon) of Florence, Arizona, Uncle Jerry (Betty) Kidd of Chaska, Minnesota, Uncle John (Kathy) Vogel of Littleton, Pennsylvania, and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Kidd and Marlyce Huntley.
Memorials may be made in Mike s name and designated to Keeping Okoboji Blue, The HAPI Board (Historic Arnold s Park) or the YMCA.
