Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Michael Hubert Lafosse, 75. Mr. Lafosse, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died Wednesday evening, September 20 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, LA. Brother James Faulk will conduct the services with interment following in the United Methodist Cemetery on Plaquemine Street in Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bertrand Lafosse of Church Point; his sons, Michael Jared Lafosse and wife Jennifer of Metairie, LA and Koury "Smokey" Lafosse and wife Melissa of Church Point; his grandchildren, Tori Venable and wife Allison of Church Point and Cain Lafosse and fiancé Naomi of Metairie; a great-grandchild, Carson Ray Venable; a Godchild, Heather Savoie Jarreau; his sisters, Cynthia Bertrand of Moss Bluff, LA and Stephanie Savoie and husband Raymond of Livonia, LA; a brother, T.J. Lafosse, Jr. and wife Yvonne of Addis, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas "Tommy" Lafosse, Sr. and Alberetta "Sally" Perghan Lafosse; a brother-in-law, Herman Newton Bertrand and his father and mother-in-law, Sterling and Nedia Leleux Bertrand.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday. A veteran of the LA Army National Guard, Mr. Lafosse retired as a Construction Inspector with the LA Department of Transportation and Development. A devoted volunteer; he was a member of the Church Point Volunteer Fire Department for 20+ years, in charge of the T-Ball League for 10+ years, coached Little League for 10+ years, was a substitute teacher at Church Point High School for 10 years and helped manage "Tommy's Drive Inn" for many years. Truly loved, he will be missed by all who knew him. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.
