Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend to all who met him passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at his home with his family by his side, age 64. He was born July 30, 1960, in Bay City, Michigan, was a wonderful, upbeat, and passionate man. He is the beloved son of the late Cyril and Ann (Burnell) McMann.
Michael graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1979, attended Delta College, and earned his bachelor's degree in business from the Detroit School of Business. He has worked at Stanley Alarm Company, Brookdale Assisted Living, New Hope Bay, and has been the house manager at Brian's House Community Group since 2018.
A huge fan of University of Michigan football and the Detroit Lions, Michael enjoys camping, cooking, fishing, kayaking, and baking the best no-bake cookies. Known for his mechanical skills and expertise in alarm systems, Michael's uplifting personality and elaborate stories have endeared him to many. He is passionate about Brian's House and often chairs fundraisers and attends Chamber luncheons.
Michael married the love of his life, Tammy M. Bouckaert, on December 31, 2000, and she survives him. He is also survived by his four children: Mike McMann, Misty (Colin) Sugar, Nathan McMann (Destinee), and Janel (Justin) Green; grandchildren: Alexander, Madeline, Emaline, Mollie, Bennett, Norah, Victoria, and Kai; brothers-in-law: Daniel Bouckaert (Patti), William "Bill" Bouckaert, Mark (Cheryl) Bouckaert, and Dave (Heidi) Bouckaert; many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his beloved dogs: his pug Max, Mazie and Remi.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Cyril and Ann; sister, Theresa (Joe) Commire; and two brothers, Greg McMann and Jimmy McMann.
Tammy and her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to McLaren Hospice, especially nurse Michelle for professionalism and care she gave Michael over the past few weeks. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Brian's House for your prayers and continual support through this difficult time Michael endured.
A gathering of family and friends will a held Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Brian's House, 664 W. Nebobish Road, Essexville, MI 48732 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. In honor of Michael and support for his family, you are encouraged to wear your favorite University of Michigan or Detroit Lions apparel. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to "Family Wishes" in care of Tammy McMann.
