Beverly, MA - Michael J. Mendalka, 85, of Beverly, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Beverly Hospital. Son of the late Henry and Alice (Wieczorek) Mendalka, Michael was born and raised in Peabody, and he graduated from St. Mary's high school in Lynn in 1957. He then enlisted in the US Army where he served for 3 years active duty and 3 years reserve duty.
After an honorable discharge, Michael attended Peterson's School of Steam Engineering in Boston where he earned his Third-Class Engineers diploma. He married his wife Nancy in 1967, and they settled in Beverly. Michael went to work at the Post Office and eventually became the Postmaster for the Beverly Farms Branch.
Michael retired and enjoyed a quiet life with family. He played golf and he enjoyed vacationing in tropical places; a cruise ship was his favorite way to get there.
Michael is survived by: His loving wife Nancy (Mascioli) Mendalka; his niece Sarah Mascioli of Beverly; his niece Alyssa Mascioli of Brookline; his niece Melissa Pszenny; his nephew Peter Pszenny; and his brother-in-law Michael Mascioli. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Pszenny of Peabody.
