Michael Paul Moore

"You loved me until the end of your life... I will love you until the end of mine."

Michael "Mike" Moore was born on September 15, 1953, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Jack and Marilyn Moore. He was one of five siblings; Steve, Dianne, Keith, and Cindy. He grew up on 2nd Avenue in Council Bluffs. Mike graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1971 and later attended electronics school. He went on to work in the automotive industry for many years before joining MidAmerican Energy in 1991, where he worked until his retirement in 2020.

Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had two daughters from a previous marriage. In 1991, he married Linda, and together they shared 34 wonderful years of marriage. They made their home in the Council Bluffs area and enjoyed a life full of camping, boating, and traveling; particularly to the Caribbean and Hawaii, where Mike loved to snorkel and scuba dive.

Family was everything to Mike. Together, he and Linda had three children: daughters Michele and Kimberly, and son Jamie. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also had many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mike had a close relationship with his Aunt Sandra and often dropped by for tea and conversation. He and Linda enjoyed countless evenings around backyard fires with his sister Cindy and her husband Joe, and they created lasting memories during vacations with his brother Keith and sister-in-law Linda.

Mike loved cheering on his grandson Ghannon and his friend Dane as they played football for Millard West. He was also a dedicated fan at his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's soccer, volleyball, softball, and basketball games. Two honorary grandchildren, Landon and Laney Duff, affectionately called him "Grandpa Mike," and he loved supporting them as well.

He enjoyed playing computer games with his nephews Andrew Hrvol and Matt Hrvol, who usually outpaced him with their speed and skills. He loved teasing his late niece Whitney, who adored her Uncle Mike, and always made a point to check in with his oldest niece, Chrissy, just to catch up.

Mike was the life of the party. He was always quick with a joke, a story, or a laugh. He had the "gift of gab" and never met a stranger. He had deep respect for military veterans, police officers, and first responders. Though he never served himself, he carried "Thank You Veteran" coins and handed them out to veterans wherever he went, always ending with a handshake and a heartfelt "Thank you for your service."

Mike was also a passionate World War II reenactor, participating in reenactment battles throughout the Midwest and proudly displaying his military collections.

Mike passed away on September 1, 2025, at UNMC, surrounded by his loving family, after suffering a heart attack on August 24. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him-his devoted wife, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends and neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Moore; sister, Diane Moore; niece, Whitney Ronk.

Michael is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda Moore; children, Michele Hamilton (Adam), Kimberly Campbell (Mike), and Jamie Winther (Darcy); siblings, Keith Moore (Linda) and Cindy Hrvol (Joe); grandchildren, Lacie Rife (Brian), Amber Winther, Ghannon Moore, Kenneth Hamilton, Riley Campbell, Emma Hamilton, Safron Groot, Devaney Campbell, Brooklyn Campbell, and Zooey Groot; great grandchildren, Ellie Riley and Carter Rife; cats, Gabby and Lucy; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors.
