Michael Murphy of Weymouth, formerly of Hingham, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the age of 38. Cherished son of Ellen (Young) Murphy of Hingham and the late James Murphy. Devoted brother to Patrick Murphy and his wife Sarah of Hanson, and Brendan Murphy and his wife Diana Tran of Newton. Adoring uncle to Lucas, Dom, Josie, and Sienna. Also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Mike was born in Weymouth and grew up in Hingham in the Liberty Pole neighborhood, where he made many lifelong friends. After graduating from Hingham High School in 2006, Mike went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in supply chain management at the University of Rhode Island. Mike spent the early portion of his career at Burke Distributing, and most recently he worked as a clinical supply chain consultant with PureTech in the biotech industry.
Mike lived with an open heart and an adventurous spirit that defined every part of his life. An engaging snowboard instructor at Gunstock Mountain, he found joy in sharing his love of the mountains with others. He was equally passionate about mountain biking at Highland Park, where he built new and lasting friendships. When not in the mountains, you could find him boating, fishing, surfing, golfing, or traveling and seeking out new experiences. Full of life and energy, Mike embraced every opportunity to explore, connect, and live fully.
At the center of Mike’s world was his family, especially his cherished role as an uncle. He was always present in the lives of his many nieces and nephews, teaching them to ride bikes or swim in the pool and exploring the outdoors while creating memories filled with laughter and fun. Mike’s zest for life, adventurous nature, and deep love for family will be remembered always by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham. A funeral service and burial will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s name may be made to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
