Thomas Valenti Obituary

Visit the Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory website to view the full obituary.
Thomas Paul Valenti "Tom", 78, of North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Tom will be remembered for his strength, humor, and unparalleled grit and determination.

Born on November 8, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Tom grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and consistent hard work. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Air Force Special Forces. His dedication to excellence continued beyond his military service as he pursued higher education, earning his MBA from the University of Rhode Island, and later obtaining his pilot's license.

A successful businessman by trade and a dedicated family man at heart, Tom approached every challenge with wisdom, clarity, and confidence. He was predeceased by his parents; Santos & Dianna Valenti, and his brother, Robert Valenti. He is survived by his beloved wife Ann, his three children, Paul Valenti, Anita Valenti, and Melissa McLevy (and her husband, Jason), his sister, Dolores Ferraro and his dog Diamond Charm. Tom's pride and joy were his three grandchildren, Vincent Valenti, Kelsea O'Rourke, and Ava O'Rourke, who adored their "Grampy" and will cherish his memory forever.

Tom found peace and joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, going on family cruises, and traveling the U.S. in his motorhome, always eager to explore and enjoy life's beauty. His generosity, humility, and protective nature touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life will take place on February 21, 2026, from 2pm-6pm at Falls Creek Farm, 368 Bailey Road, Moosup, CT 06354. Donations may be made to the ASPCA or Wounded Warrior Project in Thomas's name.
