Michael Olson Obituary
Mike was born on November 8th, 1953, in St. James, MN to Obert and Mattie Olson. He is survived by his two siblings Marlys Joramo and Dennis (Dorothy) Olson and his deceased sister Sandra Redmond.
Mike graduated from St. James high school in 1972. He met the love of his life Mary when she was teaching in St. James, MN. They moved to the Twin Cities where they got married in 1978. He attended Penn State University where he graduated in 1980, with a degree in turfgrass management. The couple settled down and raised a family in Golden Valley, MN. After a long tenure of being a golf course superintendent at Golden Valley Country Club, he had the opportunity to work out in the Palm Desert area, working at various courses as a golf course superintendent. Upon his retirement in 2021, he returned to Minnesota where he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed for his passion of the outdoors, love of sports, kindness for others, and unwavering love for his family. A celebration of life will be held on January 17th, 2025, inside the chapel of Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley, MN 55427. Visitation starts at 10 AM, with the service at 11 AM and luncheon to follow. Flowers are welcome, and memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, to support his son Adam who is a police officer and other first responders. Tunnel to Towers, is a non-profit providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families. Link to donate: https://t2t.org/
