In loving memory of the sudden and sad loss of Michael Kelly Parks who passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on July 16, 2023
Michael was born in Colorado Springs on June 25, 1969. He attended grade school, middle school and high school in the Colorado Springs area, graduating from Falcon High School in May 1988.
After graduation Michael enlisted in the Unites States Navy and spent the next 4 years in San Deigo, CA, where he was out at sea on the USS O'Brien as a firefighter. Upon leaving the military, he came back to Colorado Springs and worked in construction. In all of his years, Michael had always had a love for music. Although he didn't have an angelic voice, he found his love in beating his drums. This love came at a young age as he was banging on pots and pans in the kitchen, pulling everything out of the cupboards. At 12 he started playing in bands at school and in high school was accepted in the jazz band. Michael is mentioned in in the "Who's Who'" book of music.
Because of his love for music, he was also a musician playing with varies bands in the Colorado Springs area for 30+ years. He started playing drums with his Uncle Bernie when he was 23 for the band "Pocket Change", and after that continued to play with various other bands around town. If you are a country/rock fan, you would have heard him playing the past 13 years with the Jeffrey Allen Band (JAB). He would beat his drum as the night went on just like Animal in Muppets.
Michael is survived by his daughters, RaeAnna and Hanna; his son, Dalton; his mother, Gwen and her other half Sheldon; his sister, Tammy; his brother, Brandon; a niece, Calynne; his nephews, Cameron (Pickle) and Tanner; 3 grandchildren, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and so so many friends that he considered family, too many to mention.
Michael was proceeded in death by his father, Garry and brother, Todd.
On August 2nd, at 2:00 pm please help us celebrate Michael at Cappadona Funeral Chapel, 1020 E. Fillmore St., Colorado Springs, CO 80907; there will be a full Navel Honors presentation. All who knew him knew that he loved pink, so in his memory if you are able to attend the service please come in your jeans, boots, cowboy hats, and anything pink you want to wear in his honor. There will be a gathering at "The Hanger" after the service, 13530 Front Street, Peyton, CO 80831.
