Michael "Mike" Rank, 48, of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. He was born on June 3, 1976, in Belleville, IL, to Edward Rank and Kathleen (née Morman).
Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 13 years, Katie Lindgren-Rank, whom he married on September 10, 2011, in Las Vegas; his dear sister Rebecca Rank; his parents, his uncle Jim Morman, niece Brynn, and nephew Connor. Mike also leaves behind his myriad friends that he held as his found family and they no doubt will miss his warmth, humor, and sweet nature.
Mike was preceded in passing by his uncle Tom Morman and his grandparents.
Mike grew up in Romeoville and attended Romeoville High School, class of 1993. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in graphic design from American Intercontinental University. Later, he earned a master's degree in library science from the University of Illinois. Mike worked as a children's librarian at Fountaindale Library in Romeoville and at Joliet Public Library. Mike loved to share his passion for books with young readers, especially graphic novels. As he would say it doesn't matter what you're reading so long as you're reading.
Mike was a huge wrestling fan, especially of WWE wrestling. He always took time to watch any event he could while supplementing his wrestling news with WrestleTalk.
Instead of flowers, donations to the National MS Society, https://www.nationalmssociety.org/, would be appreciated.

Dear Katie, Kathy, Ed, Becky, and Jim:

I am deeply saddened by your heartbreaking loss. Michael passed at much too young an age. I know this might sound like a platitude and doesn't really help you during your profound grief: It seems that Mike had fulfilled his purpose in this life and was called upon to serve an even higher purpose that we can't conceive of in the physical world. It is said that the good die young, and although that's true, it isn't fair. I hope it helps you in some small way to know that although matter is short-lived, energy transforms into spirit that remains indestructible. Mike is still with you; you just can't see him. But if you keep your hearts open, you will feel his presence.

I hope you find comfort and a sense of peace in the wonderful moments that you shared with Mike-a husband, a son, a brother, a nephew, and an uncle who was dearly loved and is deeply missed.

Much love,
Kim O'Brien
