Michael D. Rumpel, age 62 of Mondovi passed away at his home on Friday, September 19, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 5, 1963 in Milwaukee, WI. The son of Dennis and Anna (Konkel) Rumpel. He attended South Milwaukee High School in Milwaukee, WI. He began a career at Goodyear Commercial Tire and Service Center in Oak Creek, WI. where he worked his way up from a Service Tech to a Service Manager. His hard work and dedication to his career thrust his branch to becoming the most successful branch in the area. He loved his job; however, he was forced into early retirement in 2002 due to illness.
On June 11, 1988, he married Genevieve “Geni” Molitor in Oak Creek, WI. The two shared a love that began at the age of 15 years of age. Their life was equally blessed when their son, Joseph, was born.
Michael loved classic muscle cars. He collected numerous cars over the years, but his beloved 1987 Buick Grand National was his favorite. Due to his love for cars, he always made sure that his family had a nice car to drive. Michael also loved animals including Mastiffs and St. Bernards, and he spent many hours feeding and doting on his pet crows.
He was a courageous man who fought hard. He never lost his sense of humor nor his positive attitude even through his long battles with cancer. His heart also radiated love for his family, especially for his precious grandson and granddaughter.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Geni Rumpel; son, Joseph (Andrea) and their children, Sailor, Millie and a new grandbaby arriving in March of 2026; Brother-in-law, Stephen Molitor and his daughter Alyssa (Greg) Schommer; Sister-in-law, Teri (Rick) Slawson and children, John (Crystal) Konkel, Michael (Channa) Konkel, Kymm (Todd) DeMaiffe. Also, by great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; and Father and Mother-in-law, Lambert and Peggy Molitor.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 PM with Pastor Dan Norman of Friendship Church, Mondovi, WI officiating.
A special thank you to Dr. Fallon, Dr. Delmastro, and the entire staff of the Marshfield Cancer Center for the wonderful care provided to Michael.
