Michael Rumsey Obituary
Michael graduated from Towson University in Maryland, He was an avid golfer, played hockey since age 5, and was a hockey coach at Calvert High School in Maryland. Michael was also a NY Rangers Hockey fan..
He is survived by his son, Gideon Rumsey, mother, Cynthia Rumsey of Elmira, brothers, Christopher Rumsey of Elmira, Rob Rumsey of California, Candace (Tom) DiBerardino of Florida, nieces and nephews, Ava, Jagger, Tanner, and Kennedy, and several cousins. Michael was predeceased by his father, Curtis Rumsey and canine companion, Cannonball.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A celebration of Michael's life will follow at Tags Restaurant, 3035 State Route 352 in Big Flats.

I was reading the spring 2025 edition of TU magazine today and almost missed that listing of Rumz´s passing. I even turned back the page to make sure I was reading the "Memoriums". I am shocked and so, so sad.
I met "michael" or "Rumz" freshman year, first semester at (then) Towson State. He lived on the 10th floor, I lived on the 11th. We would watch hockey together in his dorm room, go to hockey parties, meet up at Gators, enjoy random times laughing and talking. I recall him being pretty upset about being expected to do his own laundry in college. But he didn´t. He found a laundry service. haha He was the sweetest, friendliest, funniest and most energetic. I am so sorry to his friends and family and I will never forget him. (This is a pic I posted on his FB years ago when I was going through old photos)

Rumsey & I have over 20 years of work history & friendship. We hit it off from the very beginning when we met at a sales training in Del Mar, CA. I really enjoyed his witty personality & humor! I´ve always looked up to Rumz & thought of him as a role model in both my professional & personal life. I am truly saddened by his loss & still can´t believe he´s gone. I´m going to miss my very good friend & co-worker.
RIP Mike (aka the Commissioner).

When I first met Mike, it was on the phone after he had accepted the job with Kurin. I was fortunate enough to learn about Gideon & his dog, the 2 happiest things in his life. Mike, you will be extremely missed. Our memories of the times together will not be forgotten.
