Michael Edward Seminary Sr.

Michael Edward Seminary, Sr., "Mike", 89, of Forest Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully January 14, 2025 at Edward Hines VA Hospital.
Born in Danville, Illinois, Michael graduated from Danville-Vermilion High School and entered the United States Army via Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, where he served at the end of the Korean War. After his discharge with a Carbine Marksman badge and a Good Conduct medal, Michael embarked upon a three-decade career with the United States Post Office, at the downtown Chicago main office.
Mike loved the Chicago Bulls, reading action books, going to the movies (John Wayne and other Westerns) and fishing. In retirement he enjoyed long rides in the car with his younger son who was also his roommate, and with whom he shared a strong relationship. It didn't take much to make Mike happy, and the last years of his life were spent mainly with his family.
Father of Michael E. (Diane) Seminary, Jr. and Larry Wayne Seminary. Grandfather of Michael E. (Heather) Seminary, III and Melissa "Missy" (partner Tony Hernandez) Seminary; great-grandfather of Michael E. Seminary, IV and twins Oliver and Adeline Hernandez. Brother of Charles "Chuck" (Ritalinda) Seminary of Harwood Hts, IL, Diane (the late Roy) Hartmann of Mesa, AZ, and Karen (partner Tony) Sesso of Norridge, IL. Uncle of many.
Preceded in death by siblings Bob (Arlene), Ken (Joan), Rosalie, Bill, and Patricia Seminary; and by parents Michael and Bernice (nee Morrison) Seminary; former spouse Delores Werner; and best friend Charlie, with whom he would meet weekly at the local McDonalds and drink coffee.
The family has selected a private cremation with a memorial service to be held on July 27, what would have been his 90th birthday.
