Michael James Strandberg, age 59, of Wausau, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at UW Health Hospital in Madison with his family by his side. He was born June 25, 1965 in Merrill, WI to James and Marjorie Strandberg.


He graduated from Wausau West High School in 1983. He started working for Mid State Contracting as a sheet metal worker on March 19, 1984. He retired June 25, 2020 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 18 for 36 years.


On August 28, 1993 Michael married the love of his life, Marcia Lewitzke. Together they shared 31 years of happiness and they had 1 son, Luke. Mike was a true outdoorsman, in the fall he enjoyed hunting deer and grouse as well as trout fishing in the Deerbrook area, hunting mule deer in Montana and pheasant hunting in the Dakota’s. In the summer he enjoyed fishing on Lake Gogebic, with family and friends.


Survivors include his wife, Marcia Strandberg; his son Luke (Payton Omet) Strandberg; his mother, Marjorie Strandberg; his brother Thomas (Marie) Strandberg; his brother-in-law, Mark Lewitzke; as well as nieces and nephews, Cody and Krista Strandberg, and Kaylee (Patrick) Kavanagh and Molly Lewitzke; and many other family and friends.


Michael is preceded in death by his father, James Strandberg; sister-in-law, Kathy Lewitzke; and his father in-law and mother in-law, Charles and Delores Lewitzke.


Per Mike’s request, a small private Family service will be held.
