Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jens Family Funeral Services & Crematory - Manitowoc on Aug. 16, 2023.
Mick A. Jaeger, 65, of Manitowoc passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay.
Mick was born on December 12, 1957 in Pima County, AZ to Dalton and Delores (Schroeder) Jaeger. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, he then obtained his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Lakeland College and his Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. On August 23, 1980, he married the former Karin Helgeson. Over the years, Mick worked for various manufacturing companies, most recently he was a Global Commodities Manager for Johnson Controls, formerly Tyco.
Mick was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he served as a congregation president, a member of the church council, other various boards, confirmation leader, Sunday school teacher, and was a youth group advisor. He was a graduate of Lay School of Ministry, a Stephen Minister, he was able to bring communion to homebound and hospitalized members. Mick was a man of strong faith and valued the time he spent with the teens, sharing his faith and watching them grow in theirs.
Mick was a member of the Yacht Club, and enjoyed being on sailing crews and even sailed his own sailboat for awhile. Mick was an avid Packer fan, everything stopped when the Packers were playing. He loved playing in racquetball leagues and tournaments with the YMCA. Mick was involved with the Big Brothers Program, and loved mentoring "little brother" Mike. Mick was a family man and would do anything for them. For 10 years, Mick worked out of town where he would stay during the week and then return home on the weekends to be by his family. He never missed a dance recital, school concert or play. He adored his family.
Mick is survived by his wife: Karin; daughters: Cari (Casey Severson) Jaeger, Christy (Daniel) Miller, and Dayna (Adam) Shavlik; grandchildren: Owen Miller, Natalie Miller, and Brooks Shavlik; brother: Mark (Terese) Jaeger; sister: Debra (Paul) DeWitt; and sisters-in-law: Connie (Bill) Check, and Kathy (Rick) Kinzel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mick was preceded in death by his parents: Dalton and Delores Jaeger; son-in-law: Eric McLean; grandson: Lucas Severson; and parents-in-law: Donald Helgeson and Della (Kenneth) Helgeson-Berkedel.
A memorial service to celebrate Mick's life will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 1:30pm at First Lutheran Church, 521 N. 8th Street, with Rev. Andy Wendle officiating. My condolences to Karin and family on Mick's passing. I was a Lakeland friend of his working beside him in student government and on the YAK fraternity functions. He was fun to be around and always made you look at things with a different perspective. I enjoyed his sense of humor and spirit. He will be missed. Janine Thull, Lakeland College, class of 1980

Sincerest condolences to Mick's family. I worked with Mick at Tyco, and we played a lot of racquetball together and we traveled for work together-- during those times that I spend with Mick, we had tons of fun, and we talked a lot about work, and family. He always spoke so fondly of his family, and was so very proud of his daughters and grandchildren--a man I respect deeply for his strong family values. He was a co-worker and dear friend, I am so sad to learn of his passing.

I have great memories from St. John's Church Youth Group, Lincoln High School, and Lakeland College. He could always make me laugh and not take myself so seriously with his silly antics. I know the Lord has welcomed him home and he is in paradise.
