Mike Dodson

Mr. Michael A. Dodson better known to family and friends as Mike, age 75 of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 22, 2025 in the emergency room of Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mike was born May 14, 1950 in White County. He was devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and a proud Tennessee Farmer. He worked the night shift for 24 years as a machinist and tool and die maker for Wagner and Federal Mogul. He worked the night shift so that he could devote his days to his farm, raising cattle and horses. He respected horses from an early age and loved to saddle up and ride every chance he got. His Sundays and Wednesday evenings for the last 50 years were devoted to serving his Lord at Gum Springs Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon, bus driver, worked with the children's program, worked in the kitchen and the food pantry. It was such a blessing for him to get to spend time with his church family.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother Ernestine Dodson Henry; brother Bryan Henry and his grandparents Leon and Sally Dodson whom he lived most of childhood years with.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years Peggie Felton Dodson

Son: Shane Dodson

Beloved granddaughter: Elizabeth Dodson Brown and husband Wyatt

Grandsons: Cason and Christopher Swindell

Brothers: Craig and Barry Henry

Aunt: Brenda Dodson

The entire Felton family that has been Mike's family for the last 58 years

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Gum Springs Baptist Church with burial in Jericho Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Wednesday and after 10:00am Thursday at the church. Bo Hendrix will officiate.
