Mildred "Milly" (Moscato) Bieren, a devoted and loving soul who always put others first, of Laconia, NH, formerly of Burlington, MA, and Bedford, MA, passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 67.
Milly was born in Lowell, MA, to Francis "Frank" and Agatha "Aggie" (Albano) Moscato. As one of four children, she was raised in Burlington, where she was a proud member of the Burlington High School Class of 1975. It was in her childhood neighborhood, just down the street from her future husband Peter, that Milly's journey of love and family began. She and Peter, who had known each other since they were 11, married in 1980 and soon began building a family of their own. Over the years, they lived in Bedford, MA, Nashua, NH, and finally settled in Laconia, NH in 2007.
Milly's heart was always open, filled with kindness, compassion, and love for others. She found immense fulfillment in her work as a certified nurse practitioner. Milly's career spanned various roles at institutions such as the Carton Willard Nursing Facility in Bedford, Edith Nourse Veterans Hospital, a brief period in home health care, and her final position at the Tilton Veterans Administration Clinic. Milly's approach to patient care went beyond the physical; she offered emotional and spiritual support, always treating her patients with the utmost respect and care. Her patients trusted her deeply, and her advocacy for them meant going above and beyond to ensure they received the best possible care. Milly never hesitated to speak up on behalf of her patients, even when it meant challenging doctors or the system, always with the goal of ensuring their wellbeing.
Family was the cornerstone of Milly's life. Her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren were unwavering. Even as her health challenges affected her mobility, Milly remained an active, loving force within her family. She was there for every milestone-celebrating achievements, providing comfort through difficult times, and offering encouragement when needed most. Milly was the quintessential hockey mom, dance mom, and school lunch lady, always keeping a watchful eye on her children. She ensured that family dinner time was sacred, serving meals with love and care. Family game nights, where she was affectionately dubbed by her grandson "Easy Money" for her skill at cards, were a beloved tradition.
Milly's sense of fun and adventure was a source of joy for all who knew her. She loved watching game shows, and even entered her family to be contestants for the television shows "Family Feud" and "The Price is Right." She also enjoyed watching shows like "The Voice" and "The Masked Singer." Milly cherished vacations-whether they were summer trips to Hampton Beach, winter snowmobiling adventures, North Conway, Daytona, Kissimmee or two unforgettable cruises to Hawaii and Alaska. But Christmas was her favorite time of year. She made every holiday special for her family, going to great lengths to ensure it was memorable.
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own family. Milly often helped care for her grandchildren and she was always ready to help neighbors in need. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was known for her playful pranks. Milly was also the one to organize reunions for her childhood friends, ensuring that bonds and memories were kept alive.
While Milly could be a bit stubborn when it came to her own health, she never hesitated to do whatever was needed for those she loved. Her selflessness and devotion were unmatched. Milly's last words to her beloved husband Peter were a simple yet profound expression of her love: "I love you," as she gently slipped away.
Milly leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched. Rest in peace, Milly-you will forever be loved.
Milly was the beloved wife of 45 years of Peter Bieren, III of Laconia, NH. She was the loving mother of Jennifer Bieren of Nashua, NH, Michelle Pasquarello & her husband John of Manchester, NH, and Kenneth Bieren of Laconia, MH. She was the loving grandmother of Carleton Berry, IV, Cassandra Berry, and Audra Nee. She was the loving daughter of the late Francis "Frank" and Agatha "Aggie" Moscato. She was the sister of Francis Moscato & his wife Peggy of Lowell, Selma Eddings of Concord, NH, and the late Bertha Harrison. She was the daughter-in-law of Mary Ann Bieren of Burlington and the late Peter Bieren, Jr. She was the sister-in-law of Debra & Robert Sullivan of Bedford, Paul Bieren of Billerica, William & Ingrid Bieren of Tewksbury, and James and Krista Bieren of Kingston, NH. Milly was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
