They are meeting in Heaven.Mildred graduated from Clear Spring High School , class of 1939 and was an avid attendee at the Annual Alumni Banquets. Mildred was a ball player while in school and taught her children to play and was a faithful Orioles fan. She also taught them how to ice skate and roller skate and many games that are obsolete now. Mildred was one of the original “Rosie The Riveters”, making airplane wings when they were canvas and later metal at Fairchild Industries. Mildred was an amazing Housekeeper and Mother to her children. The love of her family was always her priority. Teaching us with “play school” during summer months so we would keep up in school and showing us the wonders and beauty of having a garden and the fruits of this labor. Mildred loved to read and gave that love of seeing the world through the pages of a story to many of us. Making hundreds of jigsaw puzzles. Mildred was the most selfless, caring person, putting others before her needs. If she was needed, she was there. Mildred loved her flowers and birds and knew them by name. Mom’s favorite radio show was Paul Harvey, “The Rest of the Story”. We learned from this and as the years went on a little of “The Rest of Her story “, drifted out. She was humble in what she did so it was like pulling teeth to find out her story and we may never know all of it. The surprise nuggets are treasures to us. She assisted in the research and wrote about our Family Heritage, which was added to our cousin Irvin’s research. Mildred sang on the church choir for over 60 years, was a member of the Ladies of the Church at St. Paul’s Lutheran/UCC Church, Clear Spring, MD, where she was a longtime member of the Lutheran congregation and Joint Sunday School. Mildred would meet you at the door with a smile and a laugh as if the joy of seeing you bubbled up in her. Making you always feel loved. She personified the word Love. Kindness and a gentle nature, always. She taught us that if we did not like something, do not complain unless you are willing to help fix it, whether it be people, politics, schoolwork, work. She could write a very meaningful letter when it was needed. Feeling so proud to be allowed in her presence for this long. Mildred touched the lives of so many people, I wish she knew how impactful her kindness and caring affected all around her. She would smile and shyly look away if she were told. Hearing her laugh was joyous.A celebration of her life will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran/ UCC Church , National Pike, Clear Spring, Md on October 25, 2024 5:30pm. Pastor Robert Lewis and Pastor Allen Reed will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clear Spring Md.Thanks to Rest Haven Funeral Home for their caring of our loved one.
