Mildred Espelage Koenig, beloved wife of the late Robert G. "Bob" Koenig, husband of 71 years. Devoted father of the late Cynthia Holstrom, Robert (Trixie) Koenig Jr, Sandra Koenig and John (Pamela) Koenig. Loving grandmother of Aaron (Sonya Martini) Holmstrom, Mackenzie (Cameron) Megger, Timmer (Delanie) Koenig and Jodi Koenig. Dear sister to Mary Siwula and her late sister, Dorothy Kaiser. Millie and Bob were married for an amazing 71 years. They started their life together stateside while Bob served in the Navy during the Korean War. They built their dream home, a Mid Century Modern house, in White Oak in 1963. They lived there for 57 years, looking into the woods and watching the sunset from their kitchen table. Millie stayed home to raise their four kids until she decided to go back to school and finish her degree in Teaching at the University of Cincinnati. She began teaching 5th grade at St. James White Oak in 1974 and retired 15 years later. Millie wanted to see the world, so Millie and Bob traveled extensively with their beloved CYO Group as well as taking many solo trips around the globe. They went to the south pole, shook hands with Pope John Paul II, caught a 100 lb halibut in Alaska, and managed to visit every continent except Africa. After they retired, in between trips, Millie and Bob golfed and spent many winters in Florida. She loved her four kids and grandkids, enthusiastically initiated conversation and made sure every family gathering was lively. Millie and Bob are together, lovingly dancing the night away, once again. Millie passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, age 93. Visitation at Twin Towers Chapel, 5343 Hamilton Ave., on Thursday (March 13) from 10:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery (White Oak). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Parks or Hospice of Cincinnati. Special condolences may be expressed at www.frederickfh.com
