John M. "Jack" Koenig, 82, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 17, 1943, Jack was proudly raised in Bordentown, NJ. He remained a part of that community for 45 years before spending 15 years in Columbus, and his final 22 years in Florence. A graduate of William MacFarland High School, Class of 1962, Jack joined his family's business, EJ Koenig Inc., a local heating and oil company. He also served his country honorably in the National Guard. A devoted and hardworking man, Jack spent over 40 years at EJ Koenig Inc., retiring as Vice President. His retirement years were joyfully spent in the company of his cherished grandchildren, whom he deeply adored.
A man of strong faith, Jack was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Bordentown, where he served as an usher for nearly 60 years. In the past decade, he was often seen at Mass accompanied by his beloved grandson, John. Jack also contributed generously to his community. He was a lifetime member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085, volunteered as an EMT with Hope Hose Humane Company, and was a past president of the Mercer County Fuel Merchants Association.
Jack found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, but his greatest happiness came from being with his family.
He is predeceased by his parents, G. Edward and Marian T. Koenig, and his brother, G. Edward Koenig, Jr.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Martha Jane Koenig; his daughter and son-in-law, Jenna L. and David B. Woolston; his grandson, John R. Woolston and his wife Caitlin M. Woolston; and his granddaughter, Kate A. Woolston.
Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast faith, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Donations may be made in Jack's name to The St. Jude’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
