Mildred Marie (nee Liepke) Moebus peacefully passed into eternal life, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Mildred was born on September 26, 1929 in Port Arthur, Texas to Martin and Ella (nee Bage) Liepke. Her family moved to Giddings, Texas when she was a small child. She met her future husband at the cafe where she worked as a young adult, in Giddings. On August 3, 1952, she married Arthur (Moe) Moebus. Together they had Parkway Cafe and a bakery in Giddings. After a few years they were offered teaching positions in Serbin. Mildred taught the lower grades until their first child was due. Mildred and Moe had three children, Rachel, Paul and Rebecca (Becky).
Mrs. Moebus was nurse, hostess and support to many in the St. Paul Lutheran School and congregation where they served for 17 years.
After leaving Serbin, Mildred was proprietress of Noack Grocery for many years. After her husband died in 1985, she cared for grandchildren and neighborhood children.
In her later years, it was her greatest pleasure to gather little ones and care for them. Mildred's other loves are Jesus first and foremost, her family and cooking. Anyone who was fortunate to sit at her table could count on a delicious, big meal.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ella Liepke; her husband, Arthur Moebus; one granddaughter, Heather Dlouhy; her sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Woodrow Wilson, and a son-in-law, Pete Martinez.
Mildred is survived by her son, Paul Moebus of Pflugerville; her two daughters, Rachel and her husband, Dennis Haberer of Georgetown and Rebecca Martinez of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Patti Liepke of Dallas, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Sharpe, Chris Moebus, Nick Moebus, Erich Rankin, Chris Haberer, and Brad Haberer.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School, 1572 County Road 211, Giddings, Texas 78942 or to the charity of one's choice.
