Mildred Rowena Tindle, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:58 am April 24, 2025 at Stonebridge Healthcare Home in Benton, Illinois. She was born September 15, 1932 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Arthur McKinley and Alma Frances (Milliner) Byard. Mildred married Reverend Charles "Chuck" Howard Tindle on December 25, 1951 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly fifty-eight years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 27, 2009.
Mildred is survived by her children, Marsha Jean Winkelmann and husband, Martin of O Fallon, Illinois, Mark Alan Tindle and wife, Pamala Ann of Valier, Illinois, and Mitchell Lee Tindle of Lebanon, Illinois; grandchildren, Joshua Winkelmann of O'Fallon, Illinois, Lukas Winkelmann of O'Fallon, Illinois, Seth Winkelmann of Shiloh, Illinois, Emma Mullen and husband, Brian of Glendale, California, Erik Tindle and wife, Leighann of Benton, Illinois, and Ashley Hainline and husband, John of Saint Louis, Missouri; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mildred was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of DAR and HCE. Mildred worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Company and worked along side her husband during his ministry.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Harold Quick officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Mildred's honor to West Salem Trinity Church.
