Mildred Katherine Weeden

Mildred Katherine Weeden, age 81, joined her lord in heaven on June 18, 2021.
Mildred was born on November 17, 1939 to David and Hilya Mettinen, while visiting a Aunt in Royal Oak Twp., Michigan. As a young woman, Mildred met the love of her life and future husband John Weeden, through her nephew Dave West. They married on July 25, 1959, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and together raised three children: Kathy, Ken, and Kevin. Mildred was a wonderful mom, and was so overjoyed to become a grandmother to her five grandchildren:, Jeramie, Tiffanie, Scott, Kenzie, and Kyle. She loved to go on vacations with her husband, and especially loved to go on cruises to the Caribbean with her family. She was everyone's favorite hostess, and she loved to plan the Family Reunions. Mildred was very proud of her Finnish heritage, and where she came from. She was a strong, loving woman, who had 'SISU' (Finnish word for having "guts"). Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she cherished the time she was able to spend with them. Mildred will be forever remembered by all who loved her.
Beloved mother of Kathy (Chuck) Kircus, Ken (Donna) Weeden, and Kevin Weeden; loving grandmother of Jeramie, Tiffanie, Scott, Kenzie, and Kyle; dear sister in law of Irene (Jim) Miller.
Mildred was preceded in passing by her cherished husband John Weeden; parents David and Hilya Mettinen; and siblings Elenore (Elliott) West, Arne (Barbara) Arnold, and baby Anita Marie Mettinen.
Visitation to take place on Friday, June 25 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, June 26. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Service at 10:00 AM.
Mildred will be laid to rest next her husband John on Monday, June 28 at Resurrection Cemetery.
