Mildred Whitson Obituary

Mildred Katherine Bradshaw Whitson, age 82, of Curtis, AR passed from this life on September 19, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. If you stopped by her home for a visit, you would likely find her singing along to her favorite hymns and laughing with her family–two characteristics that helped illustrate the joy she brought those around her and her commitment to God and family. Despite the challenges of Alzheimer’s, Mildred maintained her joy, kindness, grace and compassion.

Mildred was born on June 18, 1942 in Gum Springs, AR to Claude William and Evia Ellis Bradshaw. She was a graduate of Arkadelphia High School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family.

Mildred is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Edward Whitson; sons, Stephen (Jimmie Sue) Whitson of Curtis, AR, David (Kerri) Whitson of Hot Springs, AR; daughters, Cindy Holloway (Tracy) of Manning, AR, and Deborah Lewis (Bobby) of Sparkman; grandchildren, Nathan Holloway (Artem), Trent (Raquel) Lewis, Ava Lewis, Parker (Kellee) Whitson, Mallory Whitson and Drew Whitson; sisters Mary Hollingshead and Joan Wetherington of Arkadelphia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Thomas Bradshaw, Doyle Bradshaw, Claudie Ware, Dorothy “Dottie” Norman, Rose Prince and Billy Bradshaw.

Our hearts will forever be indebted to Kiesha Haley for the love, wonderful care and compassion shown to our precious mom and dad. She came into our lives and Mom bloomed under her care. We are also grateful for Brandy Russell for the laughter, joy and kindness she brought.

Graveside service will be Monday, September 23rd at 2:00 pm at Richland Cemetery in South Central. Bro. Phillip Runyan officiating.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Curtis.

Arrangements are by Smith Family Funeral Home-Arkadelphia/Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel, 517 Clay Street, Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923, www.smithfamilycares.com.
