Millicent Laverne (Jones) Fields, age 85, a native of Freetown, Indiana and a resident of Freetown, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Our Hospice in Columbus, Indiana. She was born on June 25, 1938 to the late Aden Jones Sr. and the late Vera (Weaver) Jones. Most known as "Midge", she was a 1956 graduate of Clear Springs High School. She was a woman of strong faith in God. She will forever be remembered as a selfless, generous lady that when she saw a need, she responded any way that she could. She enjoyed horseback riding, camping and singing. She loved classic country music. Millicent loved family get togethers and cooking for them. The family will treasure the memory of her beans and cornbread and the family favorite yeast rolls. She was an extremely hard worker and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She is survived by her five sons, Tony Jones, and his wife Deborah of Brownstown, Indiana, Clyde Fields and his wife Mitzi, of Norman, Oklahoma, Terry Jones of Freetown, Henry Fields and his wife Maria of Seymour, Indiana, and Travis Jones and his fiance' Shannon Willis of Freetown, Indiana. One daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Garmon and her husband Tim of Freetown, Indiana. Three brothers, Lyle Dwight Jones and his wife Judy of Brownstown, Indiana, Ed Jones and his wife Kathy of Freetown, Indiana and Howard Jones and his wife Beth of Medora, Indiana. Two sisters, Sharon Arthur and her husband David of Seymour, Indiana and Cheryl Fields of Clear Spring, Indiana. Two sisters in law, Virginia Jones of Brownstown, Indiana and Rita Jones of Brownstown, Indiana.
Her grandchildren, Toni Sue Shuler, Jessica Wingler, Stephen Jones, Angel Roy, Josh Jones, Cory Jones, Gavin Jones, Kody Jones, Annette Rainey, Heath Jones, Mikayla Hedrick, Sidney Curry, Emmet Willis, Kyla Francis, Shawn Francis, Mackenzie Amonett, Sassy Davis, Alyssa Fields, Samuel Fields, Rheanna Fields and Kylie Fields. Numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of over 31 years, Roland Frank Fields, one grand daughter, Charity Jones, one great great grandson, George Mansfield VI, one sister, Delores Wheeler. Five brothers, Harold 'Tom' Jones, Ferrell 'Buck' Jones, Aden Jones Jr, Dave Jones and Vernon Jones. Four Brothers in law, Ervin Fields, Jack Fields, Delbert Fields and Jerry Wheeler. Three sisters in law, Maxine Carpenter, Ruby Downing and Betty Jones. Three step children, Frankie Fields, Sam Fields and Sassy Simpson. Two daughters in law, Billie Jones and Betty Jones.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home - Winklepleck Chapel. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral home with funeral services beginning at 12:00 PM. Rev. Paul Bonney will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Smallwood Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial donations be directed to Our Hospice. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Our Hospice for their amazing love and care for Midge.
