Milton Edward Schmitt 96 passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Louisville to the late Andrew Joseph and Anna Mae (Oschner) Schmitt. He was a graduate of Jeffersontown High School, a Corporal in the United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War, a member of the Middletown VFW #1170, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Milton remained active into his 90's playing golf, bowling with the Owl Creek Creakers, and enjoying time at Rough River. He was known as a Gentleman Farmer raising livestock, agriculture, and making his own wine.
In addition to his parents Milton was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Ken (Lois) Schmitt; son in law, William Floyd Simons, and grandson, State Trooper Tyler Edenhofer.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise (Stuedle) Schmitt; daughter, Shirley Simons; son, Michael Schmitt (Monique); grandchildren, Joellen Simons-Habich husband Jason, Dana Nettleton husband Carl, Bryce Schmitt and Zachary Schmitt; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Simons, William Simons, Hannah Habich, Braden Habich, and LeAnn Nettleton; siblings, Doug Schmitt, Carol Dawson (Mike), Mary Holloway (Henry), and sister in law, Jane Schmitt.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home East Louisville, 12900 Shelbyville Rd 40243, "In Middletown". A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 212 Mount Mercy Dr., Peewee Valley, KY 40056 with burial with military honors to follow at St. Aloysuis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the VFW Post #1170 or St. Aloysius Catholic Church
