Mollie "Christine" Davis, 83, of Hartford, beloved wife for over 60 years of the late Howard Davis, Jr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Christine was born in Loachapoka, AL, and raised in Birmingham, daughter of the late James and Mollie (Humphrey) Cooper, and attended local schools. For over 40 years, Christine was employed as a private housekeeper. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a beloved member of Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hartford for over 60 years and was a valuable member of their Usher Board.
Christine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. She will fondly be remembered as a kind and compassionate woman who loved her family more than anything. Christine taught her family the value of faith, family, discipline, respect, and treating others the way you want to be treated. She was tough, but fair, and insisted that her children and grandchildren take responsibility for their choices. Christine spoke her mind and enjoyed doing things her own way, but she had a heart of gold, and everything came from a place of love. She selflessly gave of her time and talents and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Christine also had a great sense of humor, a infectious laugh, and a smile that would light up the room.
Christine loved to cook traditional Southern foods and bake, and was known for her amazing sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, cakes, and brownies. Her life revolved around her kids and grandkids, and she loved celebrating the holidays and playing all sorts of games with them. Christine also loved to read and listen to Gospel, Soul, and 80s music.
Christine leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Christine leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Jay "Beaver" Davis of Hartford, Samuel A. Davis of Hartford, and Jerrel Davis and his wife Mary of Bloomfield; her loving grandchildren, Anthony Leon Little and his wife Danielle, Ashley Davis-Tyner, Ricky Cotton and his wife Emma, James Cotton and his wife Tamika, Laura Christina Clements and her husband Guy, Tasha Anna Davis, Todja Davis, Jason Davis and his fiancee Danielle Pillion, and Edwin Jones; her great grandchildren, Natorien Brown, Elizabeth Cotton, Bryson Clements, Brooklyn Clements, Guy Clements, Eva Little, Ariana Little, Jada Cotton, Galaxy Luna Hennessey, Gianna Davis, Noah Cotton, and Wells Cotton; her siblings, Wendora Cooper, Dorothy Woods, Junior Cooper, Cora Murray, Geneva Cooper, Regenia Cooper-Harris, Katherine Shearer, and Connie Williams; her best friend, Ms. Hattie Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her children, Todd Darnell Davis, Mary Louise Davis, and Sandra Davis; and her sisters, Mary Jane Spears and Shirley Ann Smith.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 1-2 p.m., with a Celebration of Life, 2 p.m., at Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church, 500 Woodland St., Hartford.
Burial will be private.
