Morris John Goodly

Morris John Goodly was born to Theodore Goodly and Elizabeth McIntyre Goodly on October 3, 1951, in Kinder, LA. He was the youngest of their 10 kids. Morris was born late in his loving mother's life allowing him to be spoiled by his beloved sisters Mary and Josephine. They took on the main responsibility of raising him and keeping him on the straight and narrow and he loved them dearly for their sacrifice.
Morris firmly believed that God comes first and family immediately after. His greatest accomplishment was falling in love and marrying his wife of 52 years Brenda Talbert Goodly. In turn, she gave him an even greater gift, his two wonderful daughters.
Although he didn't discuss it much, he was extremely proud of his military service. He proudly boasted that it took him places a regular country boy would have never gone like Europe, Asia and South Africa. It also allowed his daughters to experience the world at a young age as they were both born in Germany.
Morris was friendly, funny and had a great personality, however he was very cautious about who he allowed in his circle. Trust was always paramount in his earthly life. Friendship was something he valued, once you are his friend you are a friend for life.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Elizabeth Goodly, his sister Mary Goodly Davis, his brothers Vorris Goodly, Norris Goodly, Otis Goodly, Rodney Goodly, Marshall Goodly, Horace Goodly and Lawrence Goodly.
Morris is survived by his loving wife Brenda Goodly, his daughters Elizabeth Thompson (Mike) and Brandi McZeal (Ronald), his sister Josephine Simien Bellard, his grandchildren Jason Barker, Jordan Barker, Gavin McZeal, and Keelen McZeal, his great children Xaven, Xander and Xuri Broussard. It is an understatement that he will be missed.
Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2023, beginning at 10:00AM until 11:45AM with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30AM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Noon Friday at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 3939 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. Entombment will follow the Mass at Consolata Cemetery.
We, the family of Morris Goodly, would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Luke Williams, Dr. Ricardo McCall, Tracy Gloston, and Elliott for the exceptional care provided during his illness.
