Filled with joy, our mother, Murna Farr Hadley stepped through the veil and into the arms of her loving husband and family on June 2, 2024. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother was loved by all, as she shared her life in service to others.

Born December 6, 1931, in a small, two room house during the depression, yet she grew in service and in multiple opportunities to travel the earth. School was difficult at first, as she was terribly shy.  However, life molded her into a strong, capable woman, who was unafraid to reach out to lift and bless others.

She graduated from Weber High School, and one week later married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Roland B. Hadley.  They were inseparable and together they built a life that they loved, until they were separated by his death in 2017.

Mom worked many jobs to help clothe and feed her five children, Van Hadley (Kaye), Sandra Gremillion (Jim), Mark Hadley (Kristin), Lisa Meyer (Mike), and Kevin Hadley (Shannon).  Many were the hours she spent in our behalf – from weighing beets, canning tomatoes, working as a paraprofessional at Bonneville High School, and later she became the manager of the Layton Farm Supply.   Yet we would always come home to a warm meal, pressed clothes, home sewn dresses, and her loving arms.  She was amazing.

By far her greatest legacy, however, was her faith.  She had many experiences with the spirit and shared them with her posterity.  We all loved hearing about her “13 miracles,” which took place in her life.  She served faithfully in many stake and ward callings, such as Primary President, YW President, and Relief Society President.   She also served three missions with her husband in Armenia, Palmyra Temple mission, and a Kanesville Stake mission. She was later blessed to serve as an assistant matron in the Ogden Temple.

To know Murna was to know the Four R’s.   She faithfully accompanied them on the piano through years of performing – from ward parties to cruises around the world.  It was her joy and her passion.

Her posterity rise up to call her blessed.  Each of her 35 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild has felt her love and testimony.  Her greatest hope was that they would carry on the wonderful heritage they have received from this remarkable woman.

We are grateful for the gentle care she received from Inspiration Hospice.  So many kind hands helped her to leave this world in comfort and peace.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Kanesville Ward, 3300 South 4700 West, West Haven.  The family will meet with friends Thursday, June 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
