NORTH OGDEN - October 14, 2025

It is with profound sadness and tender love that we announce the passing of our dear Sarah Kaye Miller on October 12, 2025 as a result of metastatic breast cancer. Sarah was born at Davis Medical Center on May 30, 1978 to Darryle Gene Miller and Mary Alice Jorgenson Miller in Layton, Utah under the care of Dr. Warden. She was a sister to 11 siblings. Sarah's entire childhood was spent in North Ogden next to Oaklawn Park.

From Sarah's earliest years, she brought great happiness to those around her. Sarah's nature was always very kind, loving and faithful, thus emulating her mother. She grew up in the Coldwater/North Ogden East 8th Ward with very loving primary teachers. She attended Green Acres Elementary and learned to love reading. Her mother, along with her grandmother Pearl, instilled Sarah with attributes of a happy attitude, enjoying food and celebrating the good things in life.

Sorrowfully, during her second grade year, her dad passed away as a result of aggressive pancreatic cancer. School teachers, bishops, relief societies, primary teachers and youth leaders rallied with all hands on deck to help Sarah and her family for many, many years.

Sarah attended North Ogden Jr. High and Weber High School where she met most of her best, life-long friends including Shantel, Laura, Melissa, Abby, Tami and McKenzie among others. She danced with the marching band as a flag twirler in their colorguard. She graduated from Weber High School in 1996.

Sarah was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Sarah had a strong testimony of the plan of happiness and desired to share it with others. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Tulsa, Oklahoma mission from 2001-2002 where she further shared her kindness and service to others. Simultaneously, her brothers Tom and Mark served missions too. So, there were three Millers on missions at the same time. Sarah served in many callings in the church. One of her favorites was working with the young children in nursery.

In 2005, Sarah moved to Cedar City to be closer to many family members, including her mom, who had relocated there. During that time, she worked at a day care with young children and at Walmart as a cashier and in the clothing section. She made some cherished friends during that time including being an 8 year team captain for the Relay for Life.

Sarah was said to be her mom's spitting image. Her mom was her closest friend. Sarah was never happier than being with her mom out shopping, in the kitchen or watching a TV show together. When her mom died in Oct 2015, Sarah felt like she became lost emotionally, like a ship that had lost its anchor. She never fully recovered from that loss, and it affected deeply for the rest of her life.

In 2016, Sarah moved back to the Ogden area onto Hudson Street, next door to Uncle Stan. She lived there for 8 years until stage four cancer began ravaging her body. Sarah endured chemotherapy and radiation for about a year which set the cancer at bay for four years until it came back very aggressively in July of 2025.

Sarah was loved by everyone who knew her. Her contagious Miller smile and her positive outlook warmed the hearts of those around her. One of Sarah's greatest desires was to get married and raise children. However, this didn't happen. This left a void in her heart. To fill this void, she put all of her divine natural nurturing energy into her nieces, nephews and beloved dog, Sophie. These family relationships and her dog were great sources of happiness for Sarah.

Sarah's love, focus and gratitude for her Savior increased in her life as she endured loneliness and the emptiness of her mom's absence. Sarah loved being an American! She always attended parades and would dress up in red, white and blue to celebrate. One interesting fact is that when she was 7 years old, her leg was run over and broken by a parade float on the corner of 2600 and Washington Blvd at the Cherry Day's parade while chasing candy. Sarah was also a very proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Sarah had a spunky side too! It was rare to hear her swear, but if she ever did, it was more humorous and surprising than ever expected. Her laugh was uniquely fun, and she knew how to get after her brothers if they were annoying her.

Sarah loved spending time with her friends and she loved crafting and poetry.

Sarah is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents Darryle Gene and Mary Alice, and half brother (Dewayne Miller). She is survived by her siblings Michyle, Karen, Janette (Larry), David (Crystal Joy), Elizabeth Dehart, Robert (Nikkie), Nathan (Alean), Mark (Caroline), Thomas (Rachael), and Benjamin Miller.

The family extends a very special thank you to Datha McCrea for many weeks, months and years of support while going through cancer. Sarah's medical team, especially her oncologist, Dr. Carl Gray, and friends who have poured out love and strength for our dear Sarah were all amazing!!

We also wish to thank Applegate Hospice and Quail Meadows for their help during her short time there.

For those who want to pay their respects, Sarah's Viewing will be held Monday, October 20th at 9:00am-10:30am at the LDS building located at 900 West Pleasant View Drive. The funeral will follow at 11:00am in the same building. Internment will follow at the Ben Lomond Cemetery at 526 E 2850 N in North Ogden.
