Myra LaRue (Thomas) Moody, affectionately known as "Baby Sister," was born on February 13, 1937, in Murray, Kentucky, to Lottie and Bennie Thomas, Sr.

She peacefully departed this life in her home on Saturday morning, May 31, 2025, with her son William by her side and gained her angel wings.

Myra’s family first relocated to Paducah, then later to Evansville, Indiana, where she joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church and taught Sunday School.

Later, she moved her membership to Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Deaconess, and finally to Dove Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her service, first as a Deaconess, and later as a cherished member of the Mother’s Board, until her health declined.

Myra attended Lincoln High School, where she was a cheerleader. Later in life, she proudly returned to school and earned her GED.

In her younger years, Myra loved socializing with family and friends, dancing, and watching her children dance. She enjoyed reading “Love & True” books, watching her soap operas, and especially loved teaching her daughters to cook from scratch.

In her later years, she found joy in crossword puzzles, playing cards, bingo, and spending hours watching the Game Show Network.

Myra was affectionately known as Baby Sister, Baby Sis, Momma, Aunt Myra, Mammaw, Mawmaw, Small Small Mammaw, Memaw, Mother Myra, and Momma Myra.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lottie McCatharon; father, Bennie Thomas, Sr.; stepfather, William Turell McCatharon; her husband, William T. Moody; parents-in-law, Nannie B. and Edward Evans Moody; her children, Felecia Jones, Jacques Moody, Christopher Jones, George D. Jones, Jr., and Ricky “Slick” Thomas; her grandson, Karl Armstead; and granddaughter, Shakia “Sister” Jones; siblings, LaBernice Dixon, George Thomas, Jimmie Lee Thomas, Cassandra Broyles, George Earl Thomas, Bennie Thomas, Jr., Windzell Thomas, Georgia Helen Nash, and Delores Nash; and also, loving sisters-in-law, Phyllis Thomas and Iola Thomas.

Myra leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved children Chiquita (Larry Sr.) Armstead, Emily (Randy Sr.) Lander, Jerome (Bonnie) Jones, Carl Moody, William E. Moody, Nanette (Harvey) Lewis, and Carlette Moody; daughters-in-law; Sonja Thomas and Deborah Jones; one sister, Phyllis McDonald (Louisville); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and countless nephews, nieces, and friends.

If anyone was forgotten, charge it to the head, not the heart. As Myra would say, shaking her head, “...it’s just too many of y’all!”
