Myron L. Mertens, 66, Green Bay, passed unexpectedly at home on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Myron was born on February 26, 1956 in Green Bay the son of Ruth and Richard Brice. He attended East High School. On May 17, 1975 he married the former Judy Leiterman at St. Bernard Catholic Church and the couple has enjoyed almost 50 years together. Myron started working at Pauly Cheese after High School for a couple of years before moving on to Orde Advertising. Myron then accepted a position at Lange Bros Woodworking in Beecher as a Plant Manager for several years. Seeing that he was a go getter and could never really sit still he never really retired as he still worked 4 days a week. One of Myron's passions in life was drag racing which he started at an early age. He entered his 1970 Chevelle in the King of the Hill Race in 1975 where he won his first race. His passion only increased from there and through the years had purchased several cars and always named them "Family Affair" which it truly was as his son, son-in-law and two grandsons also raced his car. It was not always about winning which fueled this desire, it was more so the aspect that it became a family tradition. For Myron, he always gave his all on Race Days, whether it was racing himself, helping at the track or simply watching the race. He also dedicated his time to the Quick 8 at WIR and was honored to Manage the Team Finals. Even though racing was important- his first and true love was his family and Myron treasured them. He always enjoyed the many get-togethers and the time spent together. Myron also loved making memories at their Cabin "up-north" in Pembine and enjoyed spending time outdoors both bow and deer gun hunting. He loved animals and always had a soft spot in his heart for them. Myron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, a friend to many and will always be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed.
