Nadia Tarazi was born in her beloved Beirut, Lebanon. She and her husband, Soud Tarazi, emigrated to the United States in 1955, where together they sponsored many family members and friends who also came to this country. Nadia was fiercely independent and a decisive person. She managed her household with persistence and intelligence. She was an amazing cook who produced delicious food even within the two weeks before her death. She loved preparing wonderful dishes for everyone who came into her home; it was one of her best ways to demonstrate her love.
Family was everything to her and she found great joy in every visit. She is survived by her four children and their spouses (Ghassan and Kay, Emanuel and Natalia, Vivian and Jeff Miller, Jacqueline and Mike Conroy), her ten grandchildren (Jason, Kristen, Nicole, Tara, Danny, Lauren, Michael, Preston, Courtney, and Hallie) and their families, nineteen great-grandchildren, six nieces and nephews and all of their spouses and children. She enjoyed frequent visits and telephone calls from all of them. She loved hearing about their lives.
Nadia was especially saddened by the losses of her husband Soud of 64 years, her sister Jacqueline Maalouf, and her great-granddaughter Madeline Tarazi.
She had a wonderful life and was very proud of her family. She will be greatly missed. Her family will think of her with love and precious memories. Her legacy of strength, courage, determination, decisiveness, and love can be seen in each of her children as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, The Tarazi Family graciously requests donations to Children's National Hospital Foundation in memory of Nadia's late great-granddaughter Madeline who lost her life on 12/31/2022 to Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) – also known as Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) – an aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer with no known treatment and a 0 % survival rate. All donations can be made online using the link at the bottom of this page under "memorial contributions" and it will directly benefit DIPG / DMG research being conducted at Children's National Hospital's Research & Innovation Center.
