It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nahum C. Ramirez, age 57 of Deming, NM.
He went to be with our heavenly Father on June 26th, 2025, after a brief illness.
Nahum was born on Christmas Day 1967 to Eloisa Cuevas and Francisco Ramirez. Nahum was an educator for over 25 years, he taught in California, Arizona and finishing his teacher career in Deming, NM.
Nahum was a Deming High School graduate Class of "85". He also achieved his master's degree in education while living in Grants, NM, where he taught at Los Alamitos Middle School for 5 years and as a Vice Principal at Mesa View elementary for 1 year. He was a 6th grade Bi-lingual History teacher at Deming Intermediate School.
Nahum enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never missed wrestling matches, softball games, science fairs, school awards, and graduations. He attended anything and everything that his grandchildren had going on and was the loudest one cheering them on! His grandkids loved him unconditionally.
He was also an "expert" in wrestling. He also wrestled in high school and was a wrestling coach in California and Arizona. He also started a wrestling program at Lynn Middle School in Las Cruces and Deming Intermediate. He enjoyed playing softball, cornhole and was at every home Wildcat Football game. Nahum loved playing bingo and going to the casinos in hopes of winning big. Nahum loved music especially Mexican music, and his favorite singer was Vicente Fernandez. He was an amazing singer, with a great voice and could sing with the "best of them" as he would say.
He was a loving, caring person and never had a bad thing to say about anything or anyone. He was a huge part of our family and brought so much happiness and positivity that we all needed. He was the best Husband, Dad, Stepdad and Grandpa, that anyone could ask for.
When it came to being a grandpa, that was his favorite and best job. He set the bar very high, and he was our "yes man", he never told us no. If we ever asked him for anything it was always "yes". He was loved unconditionally and will be deeply missed.
His silliness, his wonderful smile, contagious laugh and those baby blues will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife, Michele; his daughter, Devini Grandits (Rene); Stepdaughters, Jessica Perez (Kenny), Alyxis Landrove (Paul) and Yvonne Gonzales (Jonas Corchado); stepson, Marc Gonzales (Nazareth) and fourteen grandchildren.
He is also leaving behind brothers, Ramiro and Frank "Poncho" Ramirez; sisters, Chela Ramirez, Argelia Palomarez (Joe), Anna Prieto (Octavio) and Josie James (Jim); and countless nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha Ogas and Hilda Ramirez.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary beginning at 6pm with Andy Gonzales officiating. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 9am at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father Francis Gyau officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Aiden Perez, Marcos Rodriguez, Kenny Perez, Rene Grandits, Jonas Corchado and Frank "Poncho" Ramirez.
