It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Calanchi announces his passing. Ronald, a beloved son, brother, husband, uncle, and friend, was involved in an accident on December 19, 2024, and was pronounced deceased on December 31, 2024. He was 52 years old.
Born on September 22, 1972, in Deming, New Mexico, Ronald lived in both Deming and Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and deep connections.
Ronald was a proud graduate of Deming High School, class of 1994, and a lifelong Deming High School Wildcat. He was known as a "social butterfly", always surrounded by friends and thriving in social environments. He loved being in the know and was drawn to crowds where things were happening. His pride and joy were his low-profile truck, which he spent countless hours modifying and perfecting, making it a true reflection of his unique spirit.
One of the greatest joys in Ronald's life was his husband, Johnny Garcia. Together for over 31 years, their love story began at Popeyes Chicken, where they first met. From that day forward, it was true love, and they were inseparable, spending every moment together outside of work. Their love brought out the best in each other, deeply impacting one another in the most positive ways.
Ronald was known for telling it like it was-he never sugarcoated things-but there was nothing he wouldn't do for his friends. He had no notion of loving people by halves; it simply wasn't in his nature. He gave his whole heart to the people he cared about, and his presence brought light and laughter to everyone who knew him. His kind heart, infectious energy, and love for music and dancing made every moment spent with him unforgettable. Whether he was acting like a diva, sharing joy with those around him, or simply being the warm and caring person he was, Ronald had an extraordinary ability to make others feel loved and appreciated.
Ronald is survived by his loving husband, Johnny Garcia; his sisters, Melissa Orosco (Vince) and Leticia Barraza (Felix); his brother, James Calanchi (Judy); and numerous nieces and nephews: Kucera (Carlos), Matthew (Diane), Andrew, Christopher, Daniel (Marina), Dominick (Monica), Jasmine (Javi), Harley (Mario), Adriana, Alysha, and Anthony Calanchi. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Olivia and Mercedes Calanchi; his brother, Patrick Calanchi; and uncles Rudy and Fred Estrada.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We will always carry Ronald's memory in our hearts, cherishing the love and joy he brought into our lives.
A memorial service to celebrate Ronald's life will beat La Paz on 02/18/2024 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be sent to funds for Ronald.

I was at one of many high school parties at his house and was not a drinker. I was sitting alone on a swing and Ronald came up to me and started asking about me and if I wanted or needed a drink. I immediately felt comfortable sharing with him that I did not drink. He quietly listened to me share, and then just responded, " I respect that, and you for sharing" I was a long time friend of his younger brother Patrick, but we became friends that night as well. He stayed, pushing me on the swing so I wouldn´t be alone. Everything and more written about Ronald in his obit is so true- he was a special soul
