Nancy Bishop, passed away on August 8, 2024, just a few days after her 77th birthday.
Nancy Bishop was a long time member of the Weavers Guild of Pittsburgh. Nancy was an avid weaver and fiber artist and teacher of weaving.
She was employed as a weaving instructor at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts for more than 30 years. She received her education from IUP- The Indiana University of Pittsburgh, and also from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where she gained her skills in commercial art. She used those skills when she was employed at the Jewish Chronicle, where she was a commercial artist for their newspaper for over 20 years.
She remained a member of the Weavers Guild of Pittsburgh until her passing. During her entire life, she cherished her woodland property and home which was her parent's land. She shared her home with several beautiful cats. She spent her life living and loving fiber arts, and her loving cats.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Union Presbyterian Church, 6165 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15277.

I will always cherish the many good memories I have of being with Nancy. The creativity, honesty, joy and friendship that she brought to many of us were a true blessing. Whether traveling together to Poland, working together on a creative project or just hanging out she was always good company and added much to every experience that we shared with her. We met over 50 years ago and I can truly say that there were few people in my life who have touched me the way that Nancy did.
Thank you, Nancy, for having shared so much with me and others over the past many years. You will be missed.
Fondly,
Dave Motak
