Nancy Jane Craig, a devoted educator, cherished aunt, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the age of 97.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 11, 1927, Nancy was the beloved daughter of John Reith Craig and Norma C. Schwartz. She graduated from Senn High School and continued her education at Northwestern University, where she pursued her passion for literature and language.
Nancy dedicated her professional life to teaching, serving as a respected English teacher at Hersey High School in Arlington Heights and concluded her career at River Trails High School in Arlington Heights. Over the years, she inspired countless students with her love of reading and writing, her gentle wisdom, and her steadfast belief in the power of education.
Nancy was preceded in death by her dear sister, Jean Gloria Rasmussen, and her brother-in-law, Paul Rasmussen, as well as her beloved niece, Susan Rasmussen (Manuel Heredia) of Houston, TX. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces Paula (Kent) Darbyshire of Waukegan, IL, and Irene Rasmussen of Evanston, IL; her great-nephews Brice (Sara) Darbyshire of Skokie, IL, and Ian (Becky) Darbyshire of Highland Park, IL; and her cherished great-great-nieces, Clara Darbyshire and Payton Darbyshire.
